Privacy & Cookies
This website is managed by the Natural Resources Institute (NRI), University of Greenwich, on behalf of the IOSAR project. The University of Greenwich is the data controller for personal information collected through this website.
Information we collect
When you visit this website, some technical information is collected automatically to deliver and protect the site. This includes your IP address, browser and device details, the pages you request and the date and time of your visit. This is recorded in web server and security logs.
If you accept analytics cookies, we also collect information about how you use the website (see Cookies we use).
Contacting us
If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject and message. We use this only to respond to your enquiry. Your message is sent by email to the IOSAR project team at the Natural Resources Institute and, where needed to answer your enquiry, may be shared with IOSAR research partners at the University of Pretoria.
We keep enquiries only for as long as needed to deal with them, in line with the University of Greenwich records retention schedules. We do not add you to any mailing list.
Our reasons for using your information
We use personal information to carry out the University's public tasks in research and knowledge exchange, to respond to enquiries you send us, and to keep the website secure. Analytics cookies are used only with your consent.

Keeping information
Google Analytics event data is retained for 2 months and user data for 14 months. The user-data retention period restarts when a visitor returns and generates new analytics activity. Aggregated statistical reports may be retained for longer.
Server and security logs are kept for a limited period to operate and protect the website.

We do not sell personal information. Information may be disclosed where required by law.
International transfers
Some service providers, and IOSAR partners in South Africa, may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, the University requires appropriate safeguards in line with data protection law.
